<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">Today marks the very first day of our Duck Squad adventures! When we went to feed and change out pool water, we found this amazingly beautiful duck egg!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">My son went to pick up the egg and Moonbeam, my mallard, went crazy! She didn't want him to mess with it at all! He didn't want to upset the poor thing, so he gave the egg back to her. She nuzzled it around some, checking it out like a little mother hen checking to make sure he didn't do any damage to it, and then proceeded to lay on it. She was all fluffed up and so proud of herself, as well as she should be! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">As far as we know, her eggs aren't fertilized so when she decided that she was through laying on it and didn't return for a while, we snatched it right up to add to our chicken eggs to carry into the house for the day. We are hopeful that the duck eggs will be yummy goodness!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">My sweet little Riley Jenkins has been living in a bird cage for the past five months or so. The cage seemed plenty big enough for just Riley Jenkins every since her sister died and especially since she was so tiny. And, I don't know how it happened, but it seems like Riley Jenkins went through a huge growth spurt in the last week. Now, she can stand up and grab the top of the cage; you can just tell that the bird cage is WAY to small because she looks like a giant in it. So after looking through the garage and in the house we decided to convert this old dresser into a new home for her.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzV-7hKZ2g0weKnz5VfyGa_6M0zv-keoq6-sETTZtCtYhPo3W-cgTAMZYext4k9fhXyjEGqutYCpgKmbbdBihJAoUyvHyI7s37nf6_s0qoMoOGDc8Qy8fSgKfuQT7nUsZsCCPOr8iMjGgQ/s1600/dresser.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="A New Home For Riley Jenkins!" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzV-7hKZ2g0weKnz5VfyGa_6M0zv-keoq6-sETTZtCtYhPo3W-cgTAMZYext4k9fhXyjEGqutYCpgKmbbdBihJAoUyvHyI7s37nf6_s0qoMoOGDc8Qy8fSgKfuQT7nUsZsCCPOr8iMjGgQ/s320/dresser.jpg" title="A New Home For Riley Jenkins!" width="219" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">This is what we have completed so far: we took out all of the drawers and three of the slider bars. After that, we sanded it all down and painted it a lovely shade of yellow (my favorite color). We then let it air dry outside for a day. The next day we cut a board down to size and screwed it to the back and on to one of the slider bars. Then we had to block the bottom holes from her escaping, so we used some leftover laminate flooring that we still had after redoing our kitchen floor and screwed them to the base and the back of the dresser. We then added in some tree branches to get to the second floor and the third floor. To make the third floor we attached a hemp netting by (we bought this in the reptile section of Pet Smart) using U nails. We also hung the netting down to the second level for another way to go up and down. And, last but not least, we hung chicken wire on the outside with U nails and hung the door.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">We still have a lot of work to do on this, but Riley Jenkins can live in it until we are ready to finish it. We want to finish painting the door and the chicken wire. I think we should also hang trim around the chicken wire to hide all of the U nails and to give it a cleaner look. I also want to paint some other things on it to give it a bohemian kind of look. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">So far Riley Jenkins seems to love it! She is absolutely hilarious when she hangs upside from the branches up towards the second floor to eat out of her dish on the bottom floor.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">On most days though you will find her lounging around in her hemp hammock up on the third deck or all snuggled up with her blanket and pillow on the second floor.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>

[these books] are for adults... both the violence and the sex are not teenage stuff... and lurking behind the storyline is an adult theme. - <b style="box-sizing: border-box;">Steve Evans, author of <i style="box-sizing: border-box;">Demented</i></b><br />

A dark PNR with "let me catch my breath" action, a dark and violent vampire world and the "be still my heart" vampire Jorick... Joleene is a gifted writer. <span style="font-size: x-large;">Shades of Gray - Amaranthine Series (Book 1) by Joleene Naylor</span></h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">Joleene Naylor has created an out-of-this-world supernatural thriller, filled with all kinds of wondrous paranormal adventures, that I immediately fell in love with!! I enjoyed that the book had a True Blood feel to it and was more an adult rather than a teen vampire story. The characters are complex and well blended into the story. I have to say; there was not one thing that I didn't like in this book!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">As for the characters, a few of my favorites are Katelina, who finds her lover murdered in their apartment and seems to find trouble every time she turns around. Jorick, who has many secrets, including the fact, that he is in love with Katelina and knows the identity of who killed her lover. Oren, who has an ongoing war with Claudius and his evil minions. Kateesha, she's just one of those characters that makes you respect her evil genius nature.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">All in all, If you love adult paranormal/vampire stories then you will absolutely relish this book! For me, this was a very quick read, and I think that it is because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely know that I WILL be getting the rest of this series! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: x-large;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">A long, long, LONG time ago, we found a recipe for open faced sandwiches. I liked the recipe, but my mother and children did not like it at all! So, I tweaked it and tweaked it until finally everyone approved. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">We all love this sandwich so much now that we have to triple it every time we eat it for dinner! Of course, there are five of us in the house, and we always want more than one-half of a loaf, even if it is for leftovers the next day! And let me tell you, this sandwich is so good that there is always someone begging to have it made at least once a week!</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Everyone in the house doesn't always eat them the same way, though. My boys and brother, for example, they usually add jalapenos, pepper flakes, and hot sauce to theirs. As for me, I like adding shredded lettuce and avocado to mine. It helps me pretend that it is a little healthier ;) I also omit the tomatoes because I have diverticulitis and am not allowed to eat seeds. My fiance, he likes to add the same things that my children and brother do, but he also adds cilantro to his.</span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTKfabGAZLsMPh5PJNrHoxNjIZd9HE2rrQ2Ys6mRUyTycAIsqz58Etcz9HTA5kKn5IXUTl1inbxWd9U0ervdqDnNi3_5u6_a-uu5kDm_TyKFwikkX9P4yk1OcFgc9jm2Do_UcTjwSeyq4_/s1600/walked.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTKfabGAZLsMPh5PJNrHoxNjIZd9HE2rrQ2Ys6mRUyTycAIsqz58Etcz9HTA5kKn5IXUTl1inbxWd9U0ervdqDnNi3_5u6_a-uu5kDm_TyKFwikkX9P4yk1OcFgc9jm2Do_UcTjwSeyq4_/s400/walked.jpg" width="335" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">My family and I for some reason decided to get healthy all at the same time which is rather odd because we are all never on the same page at the same time, but this time, we are. Which is a good thing, because I have major back problems and diverticulitis so my back and stomach are always hurting and the doctor said that I needed to do some exercising to help relax all my muscles and to stay healthy. He had also said that I needed to do some form of meditation or yoga to help with stress and anxiety. The stress and </span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">anxiety affect the diverticulitis majorly and makes it feel like it's ripping my stomach in half.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">To accomplish my goals, I decided to put my own spin on a form of meditation called kinhin. In Buddhism, kinhin is the walking</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"> meditation that is practiced between long periods of the sitting meditation known as zazen. My family and I aren't Buddhist which is why I am saying we put our own spin on things. If you are doing the kinhin form, you are supposed to be meditating on how your body is feeling and noticing everything about what your body is doing while walking until you are no longer thinking about anything and generally you will walk about 20 minutes. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">What we chose to do was go walking after dark and choose a route once we got to the end of the street. Well, the way it ended up happening was that we didn't get to leave the house until 10 p.m. but we did choose the route at the end of the street. But, what we didn't realize at the time was how much of a distance we chose to go! Instead of meditating on the body we decided to listen and see what all animals we could hear. It was really nice and relaxing. I realized you miss out on a lot of things when you don't take the time to pay attention and just listen to your surroundings. We ended up hearing so many different animals!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"> Of course, when walking with other people it is hard to stay silent and just listen, so we all ended up talking and sharing stories. It was bringing the family closer together, something I had been missing since the kids have gotten older and started hanging out with their own friends. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">By the time we made it home we had blisters on our feet and was tired to the extreme but we had a blast while exercising and getting healthier. The most amazing thing, in my opinion, was the kids asking when we could do it again!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I had a friend of mine who kept telling me that I should check out Kate Young's books. What I mean to say is that she nagged me to death until I relented to read at least one book from her. You see, I read 1 to 3 books a day and my TBR (To Be Read) pile is already a huge pile so I didn't want to add any more to it until it dwindled down some. Being the type of person I am, I ending up saying that I would and I am very glad that I did!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Crypt Keeper is the first book in the Molly Madison series and as you can see I gave it 5 turtles out of 5! I loved that this book was action packed and had a Paranormal feel to it. Molly the main character has always been able to see and speak with the dead but never knew why that was until her father died and her whole world got turned upside down and now she has hellhounds and other creatures after her and is the new crypt keeper.</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">The thing that I loved the most was the humor in Crypt Keeper.The way Molly speaks is marvelous </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">and truly had me laughing out loud. I seriousl</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">y thought it was hilarious what Molly calls her stepmother. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">If it's romance you are looking for in a book then it will delight you to know that there is also an enthralling love triangle between Damon, Molly, and Levi that will keep you guessing from one minute to the next on who she will choose! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">As you can probably tell, I will be buying the rest of the series so that I can be caught up when or if a new one comes out! In my opinion, this book is definitely a must-read!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">We are pleased to announce the arrival of two new birds to the Duck Squad, that were given to us on the fourth of July! We have named them Big Bird and Dante. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Dante, we are told, is supposed to be a mallard. As for Big Bird, no one knows for sure what she is. The people that gave her to us said they thought she was probably a goose.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue", arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">They each definitely have their own different personalities.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"> Big Bird has the sweetest personality and is very calm. She also loves to cuddle and snuggle up next to you. We have to be very careful with her though because she came to us with a hurt leg and limps when she walks. She is already doing much better because when she first came to us she struggled with every step she took. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Now Dante, on the other hand, is a completely different story. By the attitude of this duck, we think it is going to end up being a drake. When we first received him, he tried to attack us and was even attacking the pillow case that we had put in the cage for them to sleep in. After being here a few days now, He is starting to warm up to us more and more. You can tell he really does miss his mother and it really is sad to watch. One of our other ducks named Moonbeam, we think, may look like Dante's mom, because when we do let him out to run around Dante follows Moonbeam everywhere. Moonbeam will nudge it and knock Dante over with her beak but Dante continues following her.</span><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"> </span><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">It absolutely drives Moonbeam crazy...hehe.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"> I truly and really do hope that the three ducks we have will accept them because they are the cutest little creatures on the planet and I love them so much already.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Our Duck Squad consists of three ducks (Hopefully more soon! That is, if I can get away with it..hehe) with their own distinct personalities! Their names are Goofy Cotton, Moonbeam, and Starlight. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">We actually had bought Goofy Cotton which is a Crested Peking duck and another duck named Flippers at Tractor Supply. Flippers is no longer with us because he was strangled by a snake and unfortunately died when he was about a month old.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> We bought Moonbeam a Mallard and Starlight an Indian Runner at a feed store and they were living in horrible conditions. We felt very sorry for them, they had colds and were caked in their own feces and mud. I would have bought every single duck they had if I could have afforded it but in the end, we just came home with the two.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I was chosen from a select few on Goodreads to review the book Sir Coffin Graves by Leinad Platz. This is his debut book and it's about a guy named Jacob Davis who leads an easy-going life, that is until everything he knew changed. His girlfriend is murdered, his father isn't who he says he is and his whole life as he knew it has been a lie! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I can't really say much more without ruining the book for you but let's just say if you love mysteries, thriller or even paranormal books then you will get just as hooked on this book as I did! </span><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">The only thing I didn't like was the cover. But as the old saying goes,</span><span style="font-size: large;"> you can't judge a book by</span> <span style="font-size: large;">its cover, totally applies here. </span><span style="font-size: large;">I have to say I was completely entranced by this book and can't wait to read the second! I couldn't put it down until I finished it to the very end and you won't be able to either!</span></span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> </span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmvbg_KfaoIcfpi8WJv7eB-VdFR_XAESqIir_n2cvlG4OQMUKQHbIqVhJ6zKpE0f58yZxHUUOYrma0pUyphyTdQAVO_y8HXNc91-7duW9dOttkyz99eYMfqdtAwgF8UliSHEJRxxuJABOv/s1600/canntitle.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmvbg_KfaoIcfpi8WJv7eB-VdFR_XAESqIir_n2cvlG4OQMUKQHbIqVhJ6zKpE0f58yZxHUUOYrma0pUyphyTdQAVO_y8HXNc91-7duW9dOttkyz99eYMfqdtAwgF8UliSHEJRxxuJABOv/s320/canntitle.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">That is the question I kept asking myself every time I thought about canning something and it scared me to death! So much so that I wouldn't even attempt it but after a lot of researching, and I mean a LOT, I think I understand enough not to be too afraid to try it..</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have learned the following info from the USDA: that I need to <span style="background-color: white;">store canned foods and other shelf-stable products in a cool, dry place. Never put them above the stove, under the sink, in a damp garage or basement, or any place exposed to high or low-temperature extremes. </span></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAM11Cvl8iFh-lO7wiBxDYpt5cAWuITVKPacFYQWrcVOBkNYDzKoNc-IXifipIJOXgGhi5E-ziUh8NIJMRbfDmEuIPHoQIO6ToP-_5C58Pufyhz1Eg5NJh0e9ao7CzLlbXnIuGJK6EUitM/s1600/times.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAM11Cvl8iFh-lO7wiBxDYpt5cAWuITVKPacFYQWrcVOBkNYDzKoNc-IXifipIJOXgGhi5E-ziUh8NIJMRbfDmEuIPHoQIO6ToP-_5C58Pufyhz1Eg5NJh0e9ao7CzLlbXnIuGJK6EUitM/s640/times.jpg" width="416" /></a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 7px; margin-top: 3px;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">While extremely rare, a toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum is the worst danger in canned goods. NEVER USE food from containers that show possible "botulism" warnings: leaking, bulging, or badly dented cans; cracked jars or jars with loose or bulging lids; canned food with a foul odor; or any container that spurts liquid when opening. DON'T TASTE SUCH FOOD! Even a minuscule amount of botulinum toxin can be deadly.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 7px; margin-top: 3px;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Can linings might discolor or corrode when metal reacts with high-acid foods such as tomatoes or pineapple. As long as the can is in good shape, the contents should be safe to eat, although the taste, texture and nutritional value of the food can diminish over time.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 7px; margin-top: 3px;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The graphic on the left I compiled from the many books and web pages that I meticulously went through and read. I am sure some of it might be off by a couple months or so but I made it as a reference so I don't keep things too long because I would hate to make anyone sick. If any of you know of something wrong please let me know so that I can note it. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 7px; margin-top: 3px;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Needless to say, I am totally excited to start this wonderful journey of canning and I will keep you guys updated along the way!</span></div>

The wound on this chicken is pretty deep. Being the overprotective and worried chicken mom that I am, I started asking everyone I knew that knows about chickens how to treat this wound. I was so worried that it wasn’t going to make it. Every single person that I asked except one person told me to use honey! I just couldn’t believe it! I thought honey would be very bad for it because it’s so sticky. I just knew the hay, dirt and everything else would stick to it and ultimately get it infected. So I decided to do a little bit of research to check this out before I made everything worse with a big sticky mess.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #444444; font-family: Vollkorn, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32.4px; margin-bottom: 1.1em; padding: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;">
After looking at a lot of websites, I have decided to give the honey a chance. I found out that most people and quite a few vets think it’s better to use honey than antibiotic cream. Also, you have to use raw organic honey because the pollen is where the antibacterial goodness comes from. So I ended up cleaning the wound with warm water and then hydrogen peroxide. After that is when I applied the honey. The honey seemed to go on a lot better than the antibiotic cream. The antibiotic cream usually just slides around when you try to apply it to the wound and especially if it is wet or still bleeding. When I applied the honey, it stayed right in place<img alt=":)" class="wp-smiley emoji" draggable="false" height="16" src="https://s1.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/wpcom-smileys/simple-smile.svg" style="background: none !important; border: none !important; box-shadow: none !important; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: inherit; height: 1em; line-height: 1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0.1em !important; margin-right: 0.05em !important; margin-top: 0px !important; max-height: 1em; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px !important; vertical-align: -0.1em !important; width: 1em !important;" width="16" /> I ended up applying the honey three times throughout the day because I was worried about infection as I said earlier.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #444444; font-family: Vollkorn, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32.4px; margin-bottom: 1.1em; padding: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;">
When I checked on Sweet Pea this evening the wound looked a lot better! A lot of the redness has gone away and it must be helping because Sweet Pea isn’t hollering like she was most of the day. She actually seems a lot happier. She is walking around just chirping to herself quietly.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #444444; font-family: Vollkorn, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32.4px; margin-bottom: 1.1em; padding: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;">
So, in the end, the honey won! I have never seen such a drastic turn around like this with antibiotic cream.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #444444; font-family: Vollkorn, serif; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32.4px; margin-bottom: 1.1em; padding: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;">

They are two of the three baby Virginia Opossums that found their way into our lives. They were born somewhere under my front porch. We kept hearing the dogs go nuts every time the mother would come and go. That is, until the day one of my cats got a hold it and left these little guys motherless. <br />
<a name='more'></a>There were three little babies in the beginning but one of them I guess had been the last one born because it didn’t have all of its hair yet. We were only able to keep it alive a few days but the other two are doing great.</div>
<div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: inherit; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32.4px; margin-bottom: 1.1em; padding: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;">
I was always told to stay away from Opossums because they may have rabies, but after doing lots and lots of research, I now realize that’s just not the case. It is just about impossible for opossums to get rabies … their body temperatures are too low for rabies to survive. People think they have rabies by the drooling that opossums do. The truth of the matter is that they are just scared.</div>

We have these little guys for almost two months now and they are still sweet as can be<img alt=":)" class="wp-smiley emoji" draggable="false" height="16" src="https://s1.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/wpcom-smileys/simple-smile.svg" style="background-attachment: initial !important; background-clip: initial !important; background-image: none !important; background-origin: initial !important; background-position: initial !important; background-repeat: initial !important; background-size: initial !important; border: none !important; box-shadow: none !important; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: inherit; height: 1em; line-height: 1; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0.1em !important; margin-right: 0.05em !important; margin-top: 0px !important; max-height: 1em; max-width: 100%; padding: 0px !important; vertical-align: -0.1em !important; width: 1em !important;" width="16" /> They have grown quite a bit and I will take more pictures of them, later on, to show you.</div>

As for what we feed them…They eat almost everything you can think of except for fishy types of food. Like crab, tuna and shrimp. They will not touch them for nothing. But you give them a peanut butter cracker or hard boiled eggs and they go nuts for it! They also love chicken and cat food. They have about 50 teeth which helps them eat all kinds of things including the bones of chickens.</div>

So far these guys seem to be highly entertaining and awesome as pets. They do have a few faults though like not being able to see very well. They get scared really easily. Sometimes they even get scared when I reach my hand into their cage and sometimes I do worry that they will bite. Once they figure out who it is reaching their hand in though they calm right down.</div>
<div style="border-image-outset: initial; border-image-repeat: initial; border-image-slice: initial; border-image-source: initial; border-image-width: initial; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: inherit; font-size: 18px; line-height: 32.4px; margin-bottom: 1.1em; padding: 0px; word-wrap: break-word;">
